Eitaikyo Service

Eitaikyo Service for Sunday, November 26, 2023 with a Dharma Talk by Rev. Bert Sumikawa at Windward Buddhist Temple. The service was officiated by Rev. Sumikawa. 

Eitaikyo is a special service where we remember all those who came before us at our temple who have helped to propagate the Dharma, and, in doing so, have ensured that others are able to do so in the future as well. Eitaikyo is comprised of two Japanese words, Eitai ("perpetual") and Dokkyo ("sutras").

Eitaikyo Dharma Service for Sunday, November 13, 2022 with a Dharma Talk by Rev. Kojun Hashimoto, "Will Listening to Buddhism Make You Happy?" at Windward Buddhist Temple. This Jodo Shinshu Buddhist church service was recorded at Windward Buddhist Temple, a Shin Buddhist Temple in Kailua, Hawaii.

Rev. Kojun Hashimoto is the resident minister at Wahiawa Hongwanji Mission. He hails from Shiga Prefecture in Japan and has held previous assignments at Hawaii Betsuin on Oahu and West Kauai Hongwanji on Kauai.

Etaikyo is a special service where we remember all those who came before us at our temple who have helped to propagate the Dharma, and, in doing so, have ensured that others are able to do so in the future as well.

Eitaikyo Service for Sunday, November 14, 2021 with a Dharma Talk by Rev. Shindo Nishiyama of Jikoen Hongwanji at Windward Buddhist Temple, a Shin Buddhist Temple in Kailua, Hawaii. This was our first in-person service for 2021 and the first since suspending in-person services in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eitaikyo Service & Remembrance Day

Our guest speaker for our Eitaikyo Service was Rev. David Fujimoto. Rev. Fujimoto is the resident minister of Mililani Hongwanji. The Eitaikyo Service is a time to remember all the members who came before us and their many contributions that have allowed us to continue spreading the dharma today.
